The major summer activity is white water rafting, and the most exciting time to do this is between November and May. The 30km stretch of river known as the canyon provides some of the most thrilling white water in the country.
It’s exciting, stimulating and an adventure you’ll never forget. The perfect venue for a safe, exhilarating weekend of white water rafting. We run the river using 2 man inflatable rafts, which are ideally suited to tackling grade 3 rapids. The rafting season is dependent on sufficient winter rainfall and usually runs from mid-June to mid-September. This heart stopping adventure is on one of South Africa’s most exciting rivers. Being a mere 3 hours from Cape, the Doring River provides an exciting weekend getaway within comfortable driving distance.

We launch about 20km south of Swellendam.
The Tugela River experience is based at a Bush Camp and Tented Lodge near Weenen. Established in 1984, the stone and tented camp is tucked away on the banks of the mighty Tugela River, in the heart of the Thukela Biosphere reserve in Kwa-zulu Natal. In addition to white water rafting - abseiling, 4X4 routes and horse rides are also available. For those not interested in adventure activities, the camp is ideally suited for guided walks, game viewing, bird watching, fishing or merely sitting in the shade of a thorn tree with a good book.
